Obituary

Wesley E. Springer, 55, of Lincoln, passed away Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020 at home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer surrounded by his wife and children.  He was born to Rev. Ivan Reuben and Shirley Joan (Buettgenbach) Springer on June 14, 1964 in Sargent, NE.  He and his mother moved back to Lincoln when his father passed away.  Wes was 9 months old.  In Lincoln, his mother an her sister bought a house together and raised Wes.  He attended Riley, Culler and graduated in 1982 from Northeast.  He then attended Nebraska Weslyan where he was a member of Theta Chi.  He left NWU after the passing of his mother and received his Associates in Architectural Drafting from SCC.

He met his wife, Tami (Schuetze) Springer in Feb. of 1988.  They became instant best friends and enjoyed playing pool and country dancing.  They spent time at Thomas Lake in Ashland where his aunt and family friends Phil & Ray Dalton owned a cabin and they loved to drive his 83 Jeep CJ7 down any dirt road they could find.  They were married in 1989, bought a little trailer and began a family.  Wes and Tami were blessed with two children; Stephen and Stephanie.

Wes' pride and joy were his children.  He enjoyed teaching them the delicate art of fishing and the dynamics involved in setting up a perfect campsite.  He loved baton and Tae-Kwon-Do competitions, softball and baseball games, swim and dive meets, marching band half time shows and competitions and bowling tournaments.  He was an Eagle scout and was in Scout leadership with Troupe 45 at St. Joseph's to guide his son and other fine young men,  Wes was a die hard Husker fan who was alittle too passionate for some people's tastes, but always and forever hopeful.

He is survived by his loving wife and children, In-Laws Erine & Mary (Means) Schuetze, brother-in-laws Christopher & Carol(Oringderff) Schuetze and Kevin Schuetze, cousins, nieces and nephew.

He is preceeded in death by parents, aunt Evelyn Buettgenbach and brother John Martin Springer(stillborn).
