Rodney C. Phelps, 81, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Fallbrook Assisted Living in Lincoln, Nebraska.
A Memorial Gathering will begin at 3:00 pm, with a Memorial Service at 4:00 pm on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Homes Lake Shelter #1 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Casual attire and bringing a lawn chair are requested. An ice cream social will follow the service. In honoring his wish to be cremated there is no viewing or visitation. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mr. Rod was born July 26, 1940, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Charles and Sophie (Schomberg) Phelps. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1958. Rod served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965. He worked 32 years as a Firefighter with the Lincoln Fire Department, retiring in 1997. Rod married Suzy Wallingford on March 17, 1979. They owned and operated Antiques and Flowers by Rod and Suzy. Rod enjoyed art, antiques, and participated in Lincoln area car clubs since he was in high school.
Rod is survived by his children, Jennifer (Michael) Humphrey, Stacey (Ben) Donison, Angie (Matt) Craig, and Ty (Tiffany) Phelps; and grandchildren, Asher Humphrey, Delaney Humphrey, Chloe Phelps, Amber (Kenny) Hudson, Brett Craig, and Corey Craig.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Suzy; and sister, Carolyn Sue.
