Kerry L. Bowers

Obituary

Kerry Lee Bowers, 49, died Thursday, July 29, 2021 in Lincoln. He was born in Lincoln January 25, 1972. A Celebration of Kerry’s well-lived Life will be held Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 5200 R Street in Lincoln with a gathering and fellowship to follow.

After attending SCC and earning his Associate’s Degree in machine tool and die, Kerry worked as the Tool and Die Coordinator at Tri-Con Industries in Lincoln, where he was well liked and respected. He worked there for over 20 years, and several times went to Japan to run die trials.

Kerry’s life changed on March 23, 2008, when he met the love of his life, Carri Paxson. They were inseparable, loved to cruise, go snorkeling and have great adventures together, marrying each other on a white, sandy beach in St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. on January 17, 2017. He was a kind and generous man, driven, yet laid back, an avid hunter and fisherman. He knew a lot of things about a lot of things.

His passions included The Grateful Dead, hunting and fishing, Star Wars, Harley Davidson and motorcycle rides with his crew, Jesse, J.T., Craig, Ty, Dennis and Doug. Kerry and Carri are huge fans of Dead and Company, having seen them in concert ten times. But mostly, Kerry loved Carri.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Earl Gilliam.

He is survived by his wife, Carri Bowers, mother Gwen Bowers, sister Tanya Porter, grandmother Francis Real, all of Lincoln. In addition, he was an awesome stepfather to Dillon (Breanna) Rose of Gibbon and Carter Rose of Lincoln. Nieces and nephews Tiona Mosher of Columbus, Ohio, Kishon, Tyree, Marquis and Essence Porter of Lincoln, Uncle Earl “Butch” Gilliam, and Aunts Wendy (Rod) Jensen, Serena Dunn, Carla (Vince) Shaw, and Barb Berry of Lincoln.

He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Tom and Jan Paxson of Gibbon, brother-in-law Mike (Tracy) Paxson of Lincoln, and their daughter, Baylor, who dearly loved her “Uncle Squirrel”.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
