James D Ryba

October 17, 1956 ~ March 12, 2020 (age 63)

Obituary

James, better known as Jimmy, was a funny, easy-going, fun-loving guy who enjoyed the adventures of life in it’s fullest traveling this country.  He enjoyed his family, music, fishing, and camping.  He was a loving dad, one of six siblings, a caring grandfather of three grandchildren, and was a Private First Class in the U.S. Army.  After he left high school, he worked construction in Omaha.  He married in his mid twenties and he and his wife moved to Lincoln.  He left his role as a top salesman at W.W. Grangers in the mid 1990s to become an over the road professional truck driver.   He went by the handle “Empty Pockets”.  He said he was a paid tourist since he hauled and delivered products to every state in our country.  He loved to cook, eat good food, and watch westerns and action packed movies.  He was a simple guy who loved to tell stories and would talk to almost anyone.  He retired from trucking a few years ago and lived the last few years of his life without knowing he had ALS.

Burial will be Thursday, March 19th at 11:00 a.m. at Omaha National Cemetery.  He was loved and will be greatly missed.
