Lincoln resident Merilee Sue Parks, 57, passed away peacefully Monday, July 11, 2022, at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska.\nMemorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 5200 R Street, in Lincoln, Nebraska\nMemorials may be directed to the Madonna Foundation.\nMerilee Sue (Mathieu) Parks was born on June 2, 1965, in Holdrege, Nebraska, the daughter of Lewis and Sharron (Newstrom) Mathieu Jr. She graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1983 and attended UNK. Merilee married Michael Parks on July 28, 1984, in Cozad, Nebraska, they later divorced. She worked for many years at Cabela's and Walmart in Kearney, Nebraska and also sold Mary Kay and Pampered Chef products. Merilee enjoyed Bowling, reading, sewing, crafts, scrapbooking, and Husker Football. She was a huge Elvis fan and loved traveling to watch Elvis Tribute Artists perform.\nMerilee was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Mathieu Jr.; sister, Shari Murer; grandparents, Lewis and Mary Aileen Mathieu Sr. and George and Maxine Newstrom; great uncle and aunt, Walt and Dorothy French; uncle, Jim Newstrom; aunt, Ann Alden; and cousin, Jennifer Stewart.\nShe is survived by her mother, Sharron Mathieu; brother, Will Mathieu both of Lincoln, NE; daughter, Heidi Bussing (Jared); granddaughters, Wren Bussing, Sophia Bussing, Carissa Bussing; grandson, Devin Bussing all of Omaha, NE; nephews, Joseph Murer and Zach Murer; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
